Al loro posto promosse come migliori seconde Minnesota Vikings e Seattle Seahawks, vincenti contro il Green Bay Packers e St. Louis Rams. In AFC confermano lo stato di grazia Denver Broncos e New England Patriots che schiacciano rispettivamente Miami Dolphins (28 a 0) e Kansas City Chief (38 a 3).
